Favorite Things: Lorie Line

Since Christmas is right around the corner, I am going to stick with another Christmas-theme for my weekly favorite things. This week is all about Christmas music. More specifically, Lorie Line. If you don't know who she is, then you are missing out. Don't get me wrong- I love all kinds of Christmas music, but her songs are my absolute favorite.

She's awesome! She's a professional pianist who lives in Minneapolis. She started out her professional career playing the piano full-time in Dayton's in 1988. She did that until 1993, and during that time many of the shoppers encouraged her to record her own CD. Since then, she has recorded 27 CDs, and her and members of her Pop Chamber Orchestra tour throughout the year on more than 85 stages.

I have been to four or five of her holiday shows in Minneapolis, and I just love them. Her concerts consist of more than just watching someone play the piano; they are true entertaining shows, with numerous costumes, audience involvement and beautiful music of a 10-member (or so) orchestra.

I had no idea she has 27 CDs! I don't even think I have half of those, so I better get busy. This past month I have been listening to her music non-stop. Since I grew up playing the piano I think that's why I like her so much; I don't know of many other professional semi-well-known pianists, and since she lives in Minnesota, even better!

If you've never heard her music, you should definitely check it out. Her holiday CDs are the best, but she has countless other CDs of regular music that make great listening as well.

And just to put everyone in the Christmas mood (if you aren't already), here's a picture of Ely under the tree! She just decided to lay down among the presents last night. How cute!
