We're back!

Whoops. So I realize it’s been way too long since I’ve last written, and I apologize. But it’s not my fault. You can blame the husband. He made me get a job, so when I’m not working or hanging out with Ely, I’m busy doing all the things I used to do during the day when I was unemployed, like cleaning, going to the grocery store, cooking, working out, etc.

But I guess it is good I got a job, because now I can go shopping all I want and not feel guilty since I’m spending my own somewhat hard-earned money!

So Ely has been good. I’m not sure she likes us being gone all day, but we take turns coming home at lunch to let her out and feed her, and I try to get home right away from work so I can spend time with her so she’s not alone and bored all day.

She just got a haircut the other day, and about time! She’s been needing one for a few weeks, but again, since I’m now working I couldn’t take her during the day, and it’s a lot harder to get an appointment in the evening, so we had to wait a couple of weeks. She looks so much better now, and her nails got trimmed, which was also something that desperately needed to be done. Of course she hates getting a bath, or haircut, or anything else when people are messing with her, but the end result is definitely worth it.

I just take her to the groomer at the vet for her haircuts and nail trims, and I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t do that? It’s not expensive (less than $20), and it takes about a half hour. And they do a good job.

My husband tried taking her to PetSmart or Petco the other weekend (I get the two mixed up…you would think one of them could come up with a more distinct name), and I didn’t ask how long it would take or what the cost was beforehand. Big mistake. Their price was double the vet, and they said it would take 2-3 hours.

Honestly, how can a bath, a haircut and nail trim take 3 hours? And Ely doesn’t even get all of her hair cut since she sheds some. So he left and we made the appointment at the vet. The only convenient thing about going to those places is that they are open on the weekends, but other than that I’m not sure why people would go there instead of the vet.

Maybe I’m just stingy with my time and money, which is probably it, but still, there’s nothing wrong with saving $20 when you can!

Here's Ely, enjoying the sun on one of the (few) nice days we've had!
P.S. We are getting a fence soon, so she doesn't have to be tied up every time she goes outside!
